Gavin Cranley
Senior Director of National Optical Distribution and CEO of Harts Couriers
In June 2025, Gavin joined National Optical Distribution in the role of Senior Director as part of generational change within the business.
Gavin’s is a Chartered Accountant who previously worked in commercial and finance roles internationally within outsourced procurement across Europe and Asia.
Gavin is responsible for leading and directing a talented management team and driving the success of National Optical Distribution in line with our Vision.
Tarkis Rann
Operations Director National Optical Distribution & CEO of OCS
Tarkis brings over 30 years of leadership in enterprise logistics, supply chain technology, and commercial strategy to Optical Courier Service and National Optical Distribution.
His deep expertise in route optimization, warehouse automation, and scalable delivery systems is driving a transformation in how optical products are distributed—ensuring faster, more reliable service across Australia.
Tarkis has a strong background in sales and executive management and brings this commercial lens to our client relationships and operations.
Sebastian Gamberi
Chief Operations Officer
Sebastian brings a wealth of freight industry experience to National Optical Distribution.
He began his career with Ansett Road Express and Australia Air Express in the 1980s and 90s, before setting up National Optical Distribution (Harts Couriers’ sibling company) in 2001.
Sebastian’s focus within the business is operational excellence and he has overall ownership of the operational and commercial components of Harts Couriers. He prides himself on being a better golfer than Alex!
Sally Cranley
Client Services Director
Sally brings vast experience within project and client-account management to her role at National Optical Distribution. She maintains the key relationships with all of our clients and works alongside Sebastian in ensuring delivery and operational excellence.
Sally has worked across a diverse group of industries, including public relations, advertising and retail, and brings her natural ability as a problem-solver to each interaction.
Whilst working alongside her dad (Alex) means she’s contractually obliged to laugh at his jokes, occasionally bringing in her pet dog Risotto does bring genuine smiles of joy to the team’s faces, even if he does sometimes steal drivers’ lunches straight out of their bags.
Kim Pham
Head of Customer Service
If you make a phone call to National Optical Distribution for a pickup, nine times out of ten you’ll hear Kim’s friendly voice at the end of the line.
Originally joining National Optical Distribution as a casual staff member working on sortation and dispatch, she has recently been promoted to the role of Head of Customer Service.
Kim has a beautiful daughter whose adventures bring great laughter into the office on a daily basis.
Supervisors
Our warehouse and driver supervisor team manage our drivers, ensuring accuracy and timely and safe delivery of your parcels.
The supervisors’ role is very hands-on and they have complete knowledge of Sydney’s roads; they train our new drivers in the back alleys and school zones to avoid any hidden loading bays across the city.
American sports chat, including the NBA and NFL, dominates the tea room, alongside their protein bars.
Gene Day
Warehouse Supervisor Adelaide
Gene has been with National Optical Distribution for a decade and holds overall responsibility for the organisation and running of our Adelaide depot. Gene manages a team of drivers and warehouse sortation & dispatch staff and is the key operational point of contact for our Adelaide based clients.
Lusiah Aukusitino-Mase
Warehouse Supervisor Brisbane
Lusiah joined our business two years ago in Brisbane and has recently been elevated to the position of Warehouse Supervisor of our Brisbane depot, having overall responsibility for the organisation and operational running of our depot. Lusiah manages a team of drivers and warehouse sortation and dispatch staff and is the key operational point of contact for our Brisbane based clients.
Gina Materazzo
Chairperson
Gina started OCS alongside her late husband Mike in the 90’s and was instrumental in combining forces with Alex to start National Optical Distribution.
Gina interacts with many of our clients and suppliers through her ongoing role as accounting lead for the business.
Gina has a fascinating personal history herself having migrated to Australia from Sicily onboard the early ships pioneering the much loved and famous Italian community in Melbourne.
Alex Mueller
Chairperson
Alex bought Harts Couriers in the 90’s and together with Gina and Mike, created National Optical Distribution as a joint venture between the families.
His first involvement with the optical industry was selling optical frames to optometrists, where he learnt firsthand the ins and outs of the industry, much of which remains relevant today.
Alex semi-retired in 2025, handing over the reins to Gavin and Sally. He can still be found in the office most mornings, sharing his knowledge of the history of the business and our clients as we transition over the coming years.

A formidable and experienced procurer and consumer of lunches, Risotto holds the coveted position of office mascot.
